I decided to shut my eyes for awhile, shut my mind from everyone and everything that was around me. But what for? Is there hope in darkness? I started humming my favorite song by Ruben Studdard... "I Need An Angel" I've run out of answers I've run out of time And im so confused that i'm loosin my mind Its gonna take a miracle to help me this time I'm traveling a road that has not one sign Help me...Have mercy on me...Set my soul free...and let the bell in my heart ring....oooo This is my cry, hey, this is my plea, ya see I need an angel, I'm calling an angel, send me an angel down I'm carryin a load that's to heavy for me Have no where to go so im down on my knee Im trying to see the forest but there's this one tree Can't understand why i'm sinking so deep Help me (Help Me Help Me) have mercy on me (Wont you have mercy on me) Set my soul free, and let the bell in my heart ring This is my cry, this is my plea I need an angel (I need an angel) I'm calling an angel, send me an angel (Send it on down) Here Me Now I need an angel (I need an angel) I'm calling an angel, send me an angel (Send it on down) Oooh something inside me telling me the morning will come (Morning will Come) Yes it will Oooh sometimes its hard to face the truth so we run (We Run) God if you care at all please don't let me fall by the wayside (Oh No) Please be my guide, would you light my path... Take Me, Shape Me, Mold Me, Change Me, Teach Me, Fill Me, Save Me I need an angel (I need an angel) I'm calling an angel, send me an angel (Send it on down) I need an angel (I need an angel) I'm calling an angel, send me an angel (Send it on down) I know it's gotta be some kinda angel out there for me Send an angel down right now Send an angel down right now Opening my eyes I found myself in a snow white city, everything seemed to be glowing in gold, there were people dressed in white gowns and all had diamond and ruby crowns, they each smiled and greeted me, I tried to speak but no word escaped my small mouth. I found out that I kept on moving but I could not stop myself. I appeared to be running so fast but heading to nowhere. Where was I? I could see and hear angels flying all about rejoicing in their sweet, melodious voices. There were children that were screaming and shouting in joy. There seemed to be women who were chatting about like chirping birds. Men were busy watching a football match and they were rejoicing as if it was the end of time. Whenever I tried to reach out my hand to touch someone, they only seemed to pass me by like the wind. As I tried to scream out to them my voice felt as if it was trapped in my lungs. When I tried to be stationary my feet failed to respect my command. Where was I... Suddenly I felt like a thick cloud settled on my head, it started to hover around me like a phantom. It carried me highly and it kept going up without stopping. It's sound was hurting my ears, it felt like a loud echo sound that seemed not to get quiet. I was in so much pain that I began to tear. Icy trickles cascaded down my tiresome face. “Excuse me madam, what would you want?” “Madam Liz, are you hearing me..,hello..” “Wake up! Wake up!''..... Mmm...I woke up immediately with everyone looking at me as if I appeared to be a zombie. I looked to my left and right, but nothing changed. People begun laughing at me.:) They were busy pin-pointing me but I could not understand what was going on. Suddenly, I felt my seat was wet. I stood up immediately and what I saw made my hair stand up as if I had received an electric shock. It couldn't be what I thought no way! When did this happen? For the love of... If you would be in such a situation like me what would you do? Indeed this is like being found in between two rivers.
:):):):) I hope you enjoyed my little essay and the song too. I invite you all to comment on it. Until then, see you tomorrow for the next issue.
It is indeed a very interesting affair to find yourself in a different country and continent with everything that appears new to you. Saying bye bye to my family and friends and saying hello to...
“Mama please do not cry because if you continue it will only demoralize me. Papa please hold mama for me and take care of her.'' These were my final words to my folks before I turned my back to them and I boarded the Qatar plane that would later take me to France. It was such a sad moment for me, having lived with them for 18 years, I would now have to start a new journey to the unknown land.
Well remember the story of Abraham in the Bible, having to abandon his family and go to the promised land (Canaan). He had not a single pinch of idea where the Promised land would be located but hey! What can I say, God had spoken. And when he decides to open a door no man can close it.
Well, here I was, seated in the Economy Class right next to a man who was near the window on my left- hand side. He was already sleeping and I was just feeling indifferent. I can't complain I was so happy I would be going abroad for my further studies but I was sad I was leaving my past history behind.
If you would be in such a situation like me what would you do? Indeed this is like being found in between two rivers.
CAUTION MY FRIEND...
Imagine being 19, Freedom to do all you want, Drink, sleep around, But also remember dear one, A small mistake, Equals consequences, that you'll have to bear.
Well you can say all you want, But mark my words, Your life is in your hands,
Life is like a paper, You can write in it, Erase it or crumple it, Mark it and treasure it, But finally, One may preserve it or destroy it
